Kindergarten STEM CHALLENGE:
With your partner, can you create a Marble LEGO Maze? STEM team members must have the following criteria in their maze: a minimum of 6 right angle turns, 2 tunnels, 2 dead ends, a beginning and end and must use the entire blue LEGO board.
The students used the design process to complete the challenge! All groups, generated ideas, selected a solution, built the maze, evaluated the maze, rebuilt if needed and shared their creations with their peers. The Marble LEGO Mazes were incredible! Way to go Kindergartners!
1st - 4th Grade STEM Challenge:
First through fourth graders took a journey around the world using the Google Earth app! We began our adventure with Jeffers Elementary School and familiarized ourselves with the app. STEM team members then took a tour that began in Paris at the Eiffel Tour, went north to the Tower Bridge in London, traveled east to the Seattle Space Needle, flew across the world to the Petronas Twin Towers in Malaysia and concluded in India at the Taj Mahal. The students took screenshot pictures along the way at different angles to be used in their iMovie next week! Some of the highlights were not only getting a birds eye view or aerial shot of each structure, but also getting a view from the balcony of the Eiffel tower and standing in the water to view the Tower Bridge in London. Ask your child about their experience!
“WOW! Mrs. Kipling did you know that the Eiffel Tower is on the other side of the world?” ~ Quote by: a 1st grader.
